An Update from our local Chair Shelley Brooker

Spent the afternoon today there. They are doing pretty good. Good spirits, even dancing! They have been getting lots of support from families and residents and also from members from other Locals. Boosts everyone up when they meet other members from other Locals.

Headquarters came down around 2:00 and set up for a BBQ which started at 4: 00 and went to 6:00. Lots of food and was open to all the folks on the line and anyone else who stopped by. There was a good crowd of people, Vice Presidents Raz  and Sandy brought down some of the strikers from Hardisty and Revera., which our folks really appreciated. President Guy Smith Excutive Secretary/ Treasurer  Bill Dechant, Vice Presidents  Jason, and Karen were all there too.

As a new member of a great and very well respected union, is my pleasure to become a member and work beside our organization. In order to do a better job and apport a sustained impact in AUPE union members; I would like to ask you, if that is possible.
How through education in every single member it could bring us to a better platform to reach and expand in Alberta province?
What strategies are in place to grow our AUPE Union members?
What cases does the union in a satisfactory resolution stand and support our Union members, and how many workers violated rights cases were approached to assist Union menbers in 2017?
How many cases were resolved in favor of workers union members, and what were the cases that were not resolved in.
I would like to hear from you and approach others topics that will impact our union community members.

Warm regards
